I have a goal!

It's a fairly silly goal, but worth a shot anyway.

I'm going to attempt to knit Baby Bobbi Bear in a weekend. Specifically this weekend. I have quite a bit of time on the bus, and I'm hoping it won't take too long to knit. I bought some Blue Sky Alpaca Cotton at Downtown Yarns last week. It's for my friend's baby. I kept thinking of what I could knit for the baby that would be really special. I wanted it to be something that the baby would be able to use years on down the line, not a sweater that it would out-grow in a heartbeat. I didn't want it to be a baby blanket because I feel like they'll probably get a ton of baby blankets. While she'll probably get a lot of stuffed animals, this one will be VERY different. Hopefully I'll be able to not pass out for the WHOLE trip home so I can start it on the bus.

This weekend is also the attempt to placate the brother with merino yarn. Let's hope that goes well too, otherwise this sweater could get ugly...

I love that teddy bear. Did you buy the pattern at the store? I clicked on the blue sky patterns, but it didn't show the pattern or give a link on how to order them.

Do you ever stop to think about how you filled your free time before you knit? It's such an important chunk of my life now...it's weird that my high school friends never knew me as a knitter.

Also, the word verification today is motebrwl...i'm reading it as Mote-Browl which makes it seem like something out of Harry Potter.

Oooh have fun with Bobbi Bear. I have eyed the pattern for him, plus other stuffed animals, but I hate the sewing. Tell me how it works out, maybe I'll have to do it too! :)

Hey AJ!

You should check out that link that's the Baby Bobbi Bear hyper text. that shows how it's constructed. It looks like there might be minimal seaming because it appears to all be knitted from picked up stitches. Maybe all you have to sew up are the sides. One can hope right?

I was thinking about that blanket you made for your married friends. Maybe I have to make one for my friends to be married. I think the wedding is still a year away so I have time. We shall have to talk! What pattern was it?

Sweet Jenn, (almost a Velvet Underground song!)

I hope you don't have any problems knitting BBB. He is indeed constructed to minimalize seaming, but the instructions are not as clear as they could be. I was rather hoping that you would take up this challenge around other knitters so that we could hear your screams of despair and come running to the rescue.
But then again I could've got it all wrong and you will sail through the knitting completely pain-free :o)

I love that little bear. I made it twice and both of the little mites were sent out pre-snuggled - I may have to knit another one just for me!

Good luck and looking forward to seeing your finished bear.

P.S. The pattern is available from the Blue Sky website, you just have to search and scroll a bit to find it :o)

I love Bobbi Bear! He's so cute! And I like the baby one the best--the big one is kind of giant. Good luck!
