I was hoping to get that snowboarding hat done by the time the ball dropped last night, but I ran out of yarn and was kind of far away from finishing it anyway (I've got at least two more repeats to do before the decreases).

2009 started on a good foot though, as I managed to drink and knit at the same exact moment. It was somewhat awkward, but I proved to myself that it was possible. A photo exists on a cell phone belonging to some guy named Joe. If he posts that to facebook (I so hope he does!) I'll share it!

2009 starts off with a mystery gift for Illanna and her fiancé, the Hemlock Ring Blanket, Jeanie, the Cabled snowboarding hat and the Koi needlepoint project that's so close to being done I can taste it! My mother also bought me a sewing machine for Christmas, so hopefully you'll be seeing some nifty projects coming forth from that as well. I'm so itching to give it a go!

Happy New Year!!

Post X-mas haze

Yup. Haze. I have NO WIPs.

Read that again, just to make sure. No WIPs.

I finished Christmas knitting - in time for Christmas even! Check out these awesome mittens I made for my roommate

Finished Star mittens

She had the scarf. The project was to match the mittens to the scarf. I think I did a pretty good job. The mittens are a little brighter than the scarf, but I think that normal wear and tear in the city will dull the colors so that they're both the same dirty color. So I finished those while I was in Rhode Island for Christmas.

I also finished the monkey socks...sorta

Finished Monkies

My monkies were the last FO of 2007. Which is actually pretty hot. I think i botched the kitchenering on the toe of one of them though, so I have to go over that with some extra yarn and close up the hole. I really LOVED this yarn, the Great Adirondack's Silky Sock.

I'm currently seaming together a ginormous afghan for a friend. Her friend had crocheted her this blanket years ago but it's coming apart at the seams. I told her that for Christmas I'd seam it together for her. It's proving to be a rather large task.

But I should still have a pair of socks in the works right? Well, I thought I'd pick up the Over the Knee Stockings from 2006. I untangled the yarn and looked at them. Sternly. I will not be beaten by a mere pair of socks, no matter how tall they may be. After looking at them sternly, I realized that I need to add about three more repeats to the length of the stocking to get roughly the same ratio of over the knee ness. This means that I suddenly might not have enough yarn. While I like the yarn I chose for these, there's no way in hell they'd stay up. I'm thinking of changing to a koigu, Louet Gems or something different. So I think I'm heading up to Annie's on Saturday afternoon...just so you know. Come hang, give some moral support, and knit with me.

Feels good to kick those damn things out of the zzzz pile.

Also, I found this hot site on the web that's trying to be a Suicide Girls for knitters. Cool thing is that they've got some tat shots up there, and my tattoo is the icon for the links to knitting tattoos!! :D After looking at the site a bit, it really makes me want to be a Knit Girl! Go check it out: http://www.badknitgirls.com.

Finished 2006

So, while I might not have a photo for all of these, here's a list of my finished projects for 2006. This is mostly so I have a record for later, since I'm planning on taking all the 2006 progress bars off the sidebar in favor of the new and improved 2007 progress bars (fine, you caught me, the look identical)! In chronological order, I present to you

The PassionKNIT undertakings of 2006
  • Embossed Leaves Socks out of green Artyarns Ultramerino 4

  • 2 Petal Bibs for office babies from One Skein by Leigh Radford out of Debbie Bliss Cotton Cashmere AMZ

  • Morehouse Merino's birdhouse Beret out of a mossy green Morehouse Merino yarn

  • O-Gloves that were published in Not Your Mama's Knitting by Heather Dixon out of a Jager mercerized cotton and some really awesome silver yarn AMZ

  • Ballet Tee from Loop-D-Loop by Teva Durham out of a lavender Cotton Fleece AMZ

  • Lorna's Laces Jaywalkers in Mountain Colors Colorway

  • Zoe's Wedding Present - which were four Moss Grid Hand Towels from Mason Dixon Knitting knit with Euroflax linen AMZ

  • Mobius Capelet from Spring 06 Vogue Knitting out of a light pink alpaca/silk blend

  • Roundabout Leaf tank out of Berroco Denim Silk in Absynth colorway from Norah Gaughan in Knitting Nature AMZ

  • River Rapid Socks inspired by Schrodinger Knits in Cherry Tree Hill African Grey

  • Baby Bobbi Bear (now named Molly) for my friends John and Jennifer's newborn daughter Zoe out of Blue Sky Alpaca Cotton

I feel like there should have been more than that at the beginning. The first thing that's listed there was completed at the end of March, or maybe even early April. I was flying to Seattle then, so it was probably April. If anyone has any idea what I completed earlier than that, please let me know so I can add it to the list. I'll probably go through my archives later when I have some more time to add the things I forgot.
