Hoping to tide you over for just a little longer...

I'm so almost done with Icarus. I've got three more rows to do before I CO. I haven't taken any photos of it because it seriously looks like just a blue blob of laceweight alpaca. It's extremely soft though. The idea was to complete it before I head to Burning Man on August 24th. That way, it'll have enough time to block on my bed before I come back.

So until then, I've got some more tattoo ideas! I decided the tattoo's going to be my gift to myself for my birthday towards the end of September. Here's all the ideas I had:

Those are all the ideas I sketched up. Two of those really stand out in my mind as to what I want...that random piece of paper over there on the left, the cable that looks like a knit stitch. That's the image I want to go around my left wrist.

If they seriously can't do that (I've been told that it's impossible, but I really don't believe them, below is the other option

I'm toying with the idea of having the banner there or leaving it off, based on the fact that I'm not sure exactly what I want it to say. I want the ball to be a color too, but I'm not sure if I want it to be a red or a purple...maybe even green.

So what do you think?

Jenn, I'm excited for your tattoo! I think the only prob with the cable one is that it is really hard to do fine lines on a small area -- even if they look great when you get it, they will tend to bleed a little (not blood, the inks kind of blots out a little) and you don't want the tat to look like a blob. My friend has one with outlines and it bled a little, if the tat is too small it will just obscure the cool artwork. Good luck with whatever you go with!

Could you try the cable one in a larger scale? I know you want to cover it with your watch, but you could get a wider watch to cover a wider design?

Or maybe a slightly less detailed design? Did you ask a different tattoo artist? I'm surprised that they didn't suggest an alternative.

I think if you have a GREAT tattoo artist, then they should be able to do any tattoo you request. If they can't, find someone different. Don't go for second best if you really want the first. :)

Well...I like the cabled design minus all the lines inside really...I want the shape to look like that, but I want it to have much less detail on the inside.

To be honest, I'm now leaning much more towards the design i drew, partly because i drew it, but mostly because I really like it. I just have to find a spot for it...

I love the cable. But of course, you knew I would say that. I like other one too, but maybe you should put PasionKNITly in the banner instead of center pull?

Just a thought

Maybe you should leave the cable until you're ready for a garter belt! !!
I like the idea of the banner, but if there's nothing you really feel strongly about having etched into your flesh, then hold off.
Although it's not one of your faves, I do like the spherical yarn ball with the needles - it's got the visual reference to skull/crossbones, but way cooler!

i like the bottom design, but only do a banner if you're sure what it should say!

Ooooh...PassionKNITly is good...but if I were having it tattooed...i might stick with just Passionknit.

I think the cable would work if you're going to have less detail in the middle of it...like you said.
I was thinking that the centerpull ball design might look a tad better if it were tipped forward a little bit...so you could see that it's a cylinder shape more. I'm nervous that when done with ink on your skin, the design you drew won't really look like a round cake, but a squarish thing w/ lines in the middle and sticks coming out. Something like the angles on these guys: http://www.kcprofessional.com/us/images/products/01010.jpg
Ok, well I just tried to find an image of an actual yarn cake that has the angle I'm thinking of, but couldn't find any. Maybe I have the wrong idea...
